DroidDeck GPU Requirements, Explained — Why Only Adreno Works

2026-10-14 · sourced from the official README and linked press coverage

DroidDeck runs Windows games through Proton's Vulkan-based translation on the device's own GPU. That translation stack depends on specific Vulkan driver features, and DroidDeck builds on the Turnip Vulkan driver family — an open driver written for Qualcomm Adreno GPUs. That single fact explains the entire compatibility list: if your device doesn't have an Adreno GPU, there is no Turnip driver to run.

What "experimental" means in practice

Adreno 6xx devices (Retroid Pocket 5-class hardware, older flagship phones) are explicitly listed as experimental, with the README noting DirectX 12 games may crash on them. Older and lighter titles are a different story — but treat any 6xx device as unverified until you see reports for your specific model (see the device list).

Storage and system requirements

Alongside the GPU requirement, the README specifies Android 9 or newer, no root, and roughly 3 GB of storage for the runtime (plus about 1.1 GB if you install the desktop and emulators component).

One more thing: there is no official website

The README carries an unusual warning: the project has no standalone website, and users should avoid download links from third-party sites pretending otherwise. Official releases live only on GitHub Releases. (This site is an unofficial guide — we link to the repository, we don't host APKs.)
